About the Mission: Lifeline Program

The American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Program is dedicated to improving the care of heart attack patients by fostering seamless integration between EMS and hospital teams. EMS agencies play a critical role as the first point of contact in the care continuum, rapidly identifying heart attacks, initiating treatment, and ensuring timely handoffs to hospitals for advanced care.

The Mission: Lifeline Awards honor EMS agencies that consistently meet national standards for heart attack care, focusing on timely diagnosis, pre-hospital interventions, and collaboration with hospitals to ensure the fastest, most effective treatment.
